Road Trips and Retrospectives

Omg it felt like getting to travel across the globe just driving to Omaha today, that’s how excited I was to get out of the office for a real in-person visit with Down Syndrome Alliance of the Midlands! Gosh it’s been a long time!

Did a little, catching up, future planning and dreaming, but most importantly, a #retrospective. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a fancy word for just sitting down and talking about how things have been going.

While as a culture we are continually pursuing the next big dream, it is good for the soul, and especially for businesses and nonprofits, to look back and see what has worked, what hasn’t worked, and find out how we can be most successful together in the future. It’s even more important in this new post-COVID world where more and more organizations are working with contractors and distance-employees. When you aren’t in the office to touch base frequently, you have to be diligent about keeping lines of communication open and ensuring everyone is on the same page and moving in the same direction—toward a greater impact!

I’ll admit, it was definitely something in previous positions that I’ve drug my feet on doing (I’m sure my previous bosses can attest to that, but after it is done it is so worth it!

Thanks, Leah Janke and Sam Kruse (pictured) for the great visit today! I look forward to the exciting dreams on the horizon for you and all people with Down syndrome in the Omaha metro area.
