So every day my facebook business page gives me little suggestions of what to post. Today it said to “post a picture of your coworkers.” Given the fact that I am self-employed and work from home, “coworkers” in the traditional sense don’t necessarily apply here. So here’s a picture of MY coworkers.
Henry – Chief Inspiration Officer. His story is the one that keeps me going. The one that makes me batty but fills me up with so much love im bursting. And his story is the one I love telling the most.
Jack – VP of the Clock. Every time I walk up the stairs, he’s the first to ask, “Mommy are you done?” He’s the one who comes and knocks on my door when it’s 5:05pm to tell me I should be done. And if I have to work during bedtime, he reminds me I still need to come up for a bedtime story, hug, and kiss.
Charlie – President of the Cuteness & Manipulation. This little one cheers me on with hugs and little chats through my backyard office window. He sneaks in for quick snuggle time with me on my office chair during the day. And somehow always manages to find a reason that he deserves to have a “special treat” from me when I come upstairs—and he often gets one!
“Big Jack” (Jack Rolland) – Chief Sanity Officer. This young man is THE BEST! He’s the younger sibling Luke and I never had. Jack watching our kids at home lets me focus 100% on work bc I know the kids are in ah-mazing hands. And I thiiiiink sometimes he has more fun than the kids do playing.
Last but not least…Luke – President and Founder of Operation Make Mary Believe In Herself. Luke is my cheerleader. He’s the one who pushed me to start this business. He’s my critical eye—the person who tells me when to keep editing— but that he’s proud of me when it finally turns out just right. Annnnd, maybe most importantly, he brings me a drink and snack at the end of the day when I have to work a little later than I had planned.
I know I shouldn’t have favorites, but he’s my favorite coworker I’ve ever had.
So…these are my “coworkers.” These are the ones who inspire me to get out of my comfort zone, push myself when I want to give up, make the ask, and tell the story. #lovewhereyouwork #smallbusinessowner #theluckyfew #marketingstrategy #fundraising
