Instagram Stories vs Posts
You know how there’s that person that you met MONTHS ago and they’ve told you their name a
bazillion times, but you stiiiillll can’t remember it? And now it’s awkward because you see them all
the time and you obviously can’t ask them because then they’d know you really don’t remember
their name??!!! Ask my husband…it happens to be ALL the time.
Thankfully for me, he is my safety next. We have a code where if I give him, “The Look,” he knows to
introduce himself first and ask their name. Problem solved! Hurt feelings averted.
Okay, all that is a lead into me saying that I, Mary Catherine Marketing, am here to be YOUR safety
net in this marketing world. Ask me any questions. No judgement here. I’ve probably heard it
before, or even had the same question myself.
For today’s #FreeTipFriday, I’m going to focus on Instagram Stories vs. Posts. These have been out
for a long time now. But I still think there is confusion. In fact, I KNOW there is confusion because I
hear the questions. I’VE had confusion! As IG is growing more and more each day, there are new
users, like myself, joining or ramping up their presence and want to learn more so they do it right.
To make sure YOU don’t have to feel like the person who has to ask the awkward question that
everyone else already knows the answer to, I’ll be that person for you. There are MANY blogs and
summaries out there to touch on this more, but this one from www.Keyhole.co I thought summed
up Instagram Stories vs Posts up pretty well. I quote them directly below and just created a little
image to make their content easier to read.
If you are short on time or staff. Don’t stress about doing both. Start small with regular Posts and
if/when you have fun behind-the-scenes type pics or quotes to share, try out Stories. It’s gone in 24
hours anyways!
Read on and soak it all in. I hope this helps give you a little guidance – and maybe save you some
face too. Hehe!
Remember…there’s no shame in asking the question. It’s only a shame if you don’t seek, the
answer.
